WINGS

In
the next three weeks, the Yuba County Airport will feature two tour
groups, bringing back a bit of history to the previous military field,
then known as Alicia Field. May 29 marks the first tour with the
arrival of both a B-17 and a B-24 from the Collings Foundation.

Foundation's B-17G "Nine-O-Nine" and B-24J "Dragon and
His Tail" will be on the apron providing both tours and
rides. Details and history of these two aircraft are available by
accessing the foundation's website at www.collingsfoundation.org.

are $350 each and tours are available for a small donation. The
aircraft will on the field through May 31.
SENTIMENTAL
JOURNEY COMES TO MARYSVILLE
The
second tour group arrived on June 12. Hosted by the Airport
Manager and marking the first time to Marysville, "Sentimental
Journey" will be displayed for both rides and tours through June
16. The Confederate Air Force B-17G is one of nearly 13,000 B-17s
built during World War II. There are only eight restored and
flying in the United States at this time. "Sentimental
Journey" was restored to its original flying condition by the
Arizona Wing of the Confederate Air Force. The aircraft visits an
average of 60 cities and towns across the United States each year.

YUBA-SUTTER
AIR EXPO MOVED TO OCTOBER
Due
to conflicting surrounding air shows, Air Expo 2001 will be held on
October 13, 2001. The same format as last year is being planned
and five aerobatic pilots have already been secured to participate in
the Second Annual Freestyle Aerobatic Competition. Feather Falls
Casino and AT&T Media Advertising have stepped up as the first
sponsors along with SYIX.COM, the show's internet provider.
Updated information should be available soon at the show's website at www.airexpo.com.
CTAF
AND UNICOM FREQUENCY UPDATE
In
the next couple of months, the current CTAF frequency of 119.3 will
disappear. The Unicom frequency and the CTAF will merge once the
runway light system has been moved off of 119.3. As soon as the
change is made, information will be posted on the home page and a notam
issued. As always, check your notams for the most current field
information.
CORPORATE
HANGAR AREA EXPANDS
In
the next several months look for substantial construction activity near
the front entrance to the airport as a number of corporate hangar
facilities get underway. Joe Souza Gyroplanes has purchased Lot 7
and will be moving gyroplane operations to the corporate area once their
facilities is completed. Lots 8 through 13 have been purchased by
Crosswind Properties that will be developing a number of hangar
facilities that will be available for purchase. One last lot
remains that will be out for bid shortly. If you are interested in
this or any of the lots being developed, contact the Airport Manager.

Park Site No. 5 along Skyway Drive. Baldwin was located for many
years within the city of Marysville. Baldwin's property will be
further developed for CalTrans facilities once the facilities are moved

the next few weeks.
ACME

Acme

Melody Road. A propane distribution facility, the company expects
to hire approximately 15 people.

OPUD
BEGINS CONSTRUCTION ON WATER TREATMENT PLANT
The
Olivehurst Public Utility District recently began construction on a $2.5
million project to build a new water treatment plant in Industrial Park
No. 1, just in front of Coca Cola, and new water lines along Arboga Road
south towards McGowan. Through a successful grant and loan
application, Airport Administration teamed up with OPUD to secure the
funding for the project. The water treatment plant will improve
the water for not only the airport, but the general community of
Olivehurst. The new water lines will open up an additional 150
acres of industrial property that was not served, making the property a
more viable area to market to new industry.
