NINETY - NINES, INC.

Dedicated to Aviation Safety, Education, and Community

The Ninety-Nines came together in June, 1998, to see if there would be sufficient interest to start a Sutter Buttes Chapter of the Ninety-Nines. There was, and they did. The membership is varied and includes a registered nurse from Chico, a pet grooming shop owner and a member who learned to fly in the family's part-time crop dusting Piper Cub. One member is a grandmother raising two children and another is a post mistress at a rural Butte County post office. . . one member is an exercise physiologist.

What these members do have in common is that they are all female and all share an active interest in aviation.

The international organization of Ninety-Nines is geared toward women who have held a pilot certificate in their lifetime, but local chapter president Carol Andrews, states, "We welcome and encourage those who are simply interested in flying to join us in the meetings and flying experiences . . . because each of us remembers when it was only a dream to fly."
